Been there 3 times. The owners are shitfaced more often than not.

The view is amazing. Seating indoors felt almost like sitting in hooters. Bunch of raunchy girls with super tight shirt and push up bras and shorts that leave little to the imagination. Grateful for a cheerful male server. Joshua seemed to know a lot about menu options and didn't appear to be in a hurry. TVs were everywhere. Appetizer- pretzel covered with lump dip topped off with cheddar cheese. AMAZING!! This alone will ensure my return. Entree- NY strip with Crab cakes AWESOME Side items were tasteless.....potatoes, slaw.. perhaps they should try potatoe salad or garlic bread. Couple of things didn't make a for a 5 star experience (for example the servers without tables or anything to do were just pacing back and forth as I was eating. All-in-all As a tourist, I would definitely return next year. My only suggestion is for them to redo the menus. Currently they look pretty ratty.

We only stopped in because of all the Maryland, Ravens, and Orioles regalia that adorned the place. Turns out the owner is a Maryland transplant who moved to Pass-a-Grille about 9 years ago. We only had iced tea brought to us by a very harried waiter. Overall it looked like a beach dive. Don't expect any more than that.

Great service....and beautiful view of gulf....HOWEVER...way overpriced and inconsistent food quality and biased owners/managers who can't conduct themselves professionally when their NFL home team loses. A group of us have come here for the Sunday Ravens games and no matter how early you get there, the good tables in front of the TVs are always reserved. Server told us it's basically all about who knows the owners. We've witnessed the owners angrily slamming down bar chairs and sucking down beers through the side of the can in front of other patrons. We also heard the manager yelling, blaming another PATRON for the recent Ravens' loss. We were told by that same patron that there's a house rule that you can't drink the free shots until the manager says so. The managers have also been known to throw out Steelers fans. I'm done with the place. Our group (5 of us) will head over to Beef's or Buffalo Wild Wings for future Ravens games.

Great view, that's where it ends. We went 2nd time because we wanted to like it. It starts with the sticky menu's. Then the food that came to the table, did not look that great and tasted worse. All three of us ended up not feeling great. The rest rooms were also extremely dirty. Not going back. Sorry!

We came here to meet folks and I had the surprise of my life... A Baltimore sports bar in the middle of Florida! They even had a Sam Perlozzo jersey hanging in the place! Feeling comfortable with the Baltimore connection I tried the Monkey Balls (mini crabcakes) and they were pretty awesome! We also tried the wings, tuna sandwich, stuffed skins, and mussels. Outside of the tuna sandwich (which I ordered) they were all very good. Will definitely come here again, hopefully to watch a couple of games.

Good place for lunch and drinks. The inside looks rundown. Only eat outside and enjoy the beautiful view. Service has always been good.

Ok... No clue why there are so many bad reviews on here!? I was at the beach in front of this place and it started to rain so my husband and I along with another couple decided to try it. My family lives in Maryland but I knew better than to expect too much from crab cakes...however I was pleasantly surprised! This place is a second floor bar/restaurant with a million dollar view. We were told to sit anywhere and chose a table outside. We were greeted by a sweet waiter almost immediately. I ordered a melon colada which was not the top ten beverage I've ever had but it was strong so didn't complain... I just sipped by $8.50 drink, the waitress brought waters without even asking and kept them full the entire time. As far as food goes we had the monkey balls which are crab cakes mini style for appetizer and they were phenomenal !!! Not worth $14 for the small portion but delicious ! My friend and I had burgers which were decent, worth the $8 and my hubs had the Ruben grouper sandwich which was different but good, my friends husband had the crab cake sandwich it looked awesome, super thick and he said he would order it again. It was an expensive lunch for sure but it was very good and we will be back. For a beach bar it was a rave!

Do not go to this restaurant! On vacation in St. Pete and was looking for a casual restaurant with a good view of the gulf. Well, the view was there but the food and service was beyond awful. My husband's shrimps's were raw, and when he was trying to get the waiter's attention, the waiter was on his cell phone. Young toddlers were running all over the place as the doors to the kitchen opened and closed abruptly. The place was run by young kids with no manager in sight. As we were leaving without giving a gratuity, the waiter screamed out in front of the few people in the restaurant, " You may have not been happy with the food, but that should not take away from the service." Service? $26.00 for one huge, raw shrimp covered in crab meat with waiters on cell phones? STAY AWAY!

The food was good, the beer was plentiful , the view was spectacular and the service was friendly and warm. Although this is not a fancy place, we enjoyed it so much, we ate there twice on this trip. A great place to watch the game and the sunset all at the same time from their 2nd floor location overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Definitely will return.

We had our rehersal dinner here and it was amazing! We are a group born and bred in maryland and this maryland sports bar was just incredible. Its like the bar is in downtown baltimore thats how decked out in Os and Ravens gear the inside is. The.food was INCREDIBLE. Actual MD crabcakes that stand up to a true MDs crab palette. If you are from MD and are in the area.this place is an ABSOLUTE MUST!

I have read a lot of the negative reviews about the Brass Monkey and frankly I find them kind of annoying. If you are looking to be pampered and waited on hand and foot, go to Burns in Tampa (which is also awesome, but for different reasons). Otherwise, the Brass Monkey is a great place to sit on the patio, watch an awesome sunset and eat a burger and fries when you have had enough seafood on your trip to the beach. We make a point to go here every time we visit and will be back next week. I say go and try it for yourself. \

If I could rate this place 0/5 I would...my family is on a Christmas vacation to this area and wanted to watch the raven's game...some of us from Baltimore and others from Philadelphia. After a somewhat enjoyable afternoon at brass monkey, a "regular" at the bar, we will call him "58", decided to talk a little nasty about eagle fans and to my 72yr old father. Next thing you know, some woman was yelling in our faces, pushing us ad trying to start a fight. all we wanted to do was leave but then we were told to leave and pushed out even though we were trying to leave anyway. All we wanted to do was pay our bill and instead we were getting pushed out. Some nasty man with curly hair decided he was going to smack my backside, yes, the owner will be called, as i was trying to tell my husband we were leaving. i was so disappointing to be with fellow raven's fans and see them acting like immature losers. I am a fan and completely embarrassed. I highly recommend staying clear of this place! Especially if you are not one for fighting. Grow up!

Way too much smoking on the patio. Won't go back because of this. Otherwise a great place.

There's not too many places I've eaten where I've thought about a food item days later. Brass Monkey's crab pretzel has left me yearning for it two days later. I know it's not healthy and it's hard to imagine but I can't stop thinking about it! I also recommend the crusted tuna and shrimp cocktail. If it wasn't for that darn pretzel, I would definitely be thinking about the tuna instead. All of these items are apps, don't necessarily order an entrees. The Brass Monkey isn't fancy; the outdoor tables and chairs are rickety, the servers might be confused with someone who just walked off the beach, the decor is shabby (but the space has great potential) and the menu's are battered. If you're looking for a nicer, cleaner, romantic date with the sun setting while you look longingly into your lover's eyes... this isn't your place. If you want to get a few drinks with friends and relax and have some good food, this is more your vibe. So, treat yourself to a crab pretzel, order a glass of win (very generous pour) and instead of your darling's eyes, stare in awe at the size of the shrimp in the shrimp cocktail. And then go for a walk on the beach!

Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Food is awful. Service is worse. Bartender made a good Bloody Mary. Really...save your money.

Have been here a few times the first few times the food has been really good but service a bit slow. We went again this weekend the service was really really slow. My wife ordered the buffalo shrimp wrap which I suggest not ordering.. She didn't like it at all told the server that it was not good the response was I'm not the cook.

I used to love the food at this place. But I think it changed ownership recently, and hoo-boy, has it gone downhill fast. At my most recent visit, I ordered a grouper sandwich -- something that should be a no-brainer for any restaurant in the Bay Area to manage. I received a dry, tough, heat-lamp-treated lump of what maybe used to be grouper, thrown between two squares of untoasted, ungrilled school-lunch-quality whole wheat bread (no mayo or butter on the bread, either), with a limp flap of iceberg lettuce on top. A pickle and a handful of Wise potato chips on the side. Or were they fries? Like most victims of trauma, my mind has blocked out some details of the experience. I recall enough to know it was a flavorless, soulless, couldn't-care-less, hospital-grade food plate. The restaurant equivalent of serving your family Cheerios for dinner. With no milk. To call this "mediocre" would be several grades above what I was served. Since I was in the company of in-laws, and this place was their pick, I wasn't going to make a fuss. So I'll vote with my feet instead. Adios, brAss Monkey. May you never darken the door to my taste buds again.

We called on the weekend to find out when they are open and were told they are closed Tues. We made a special trip on Mon, Jan 14th. I love the crab cakes here but we are an hour away. There was a hand written sign saying " closed Mon and Tues, go Ravins" . Needless to say, it was not very professional and very disappointing.

  • Jennifer P.

Best place for lunch in the area - cant beat the view of the beach and the wraps are great (I'm addicted to the ahi tuna!) and come with homemade potato chips. The service could definitely be better but worth it for location.

I've never been more disappointed in a Florida eatery or any eatery than this poor excuse for a restaurant! Man, the service totally sucked the pipe! This place sat us down, the ambient noise was terrible and my wife and I am from the Chicagoland area and are used to crowded eatery/bar noise and this joint was deafening...our server stood "at attention" pushing us to order a drink from their specialty drink/beer/wine menu we'd never seen before-we told her it was our first time ther-and when we did order the drinks and appetisers, we never saw her pushy face again! We were ignored the bar tender was actively cleaning up his bar so we knew she never even turned in our drink order let alone our food order. We waited conservatively for 20 minutes while other people waited to have their tables cleared. Stay away, this joint is a "tag the tourist and take their cash/time" joint and they don't deserve to be patronized!

  • Jason R.

Good food and moderately priced. The grouper is actually grouper and not white fish; the crab cakes are awesome too. This place is WAY better than Hurricane's right down the road.

7/21/2011 - LUNCH Ordered Mich Ultra draft, crab bisque and ahi tuna wrap. Portions were good. Mich was cold. Bisque was heavily seasoned with paprika. Tuna wrap seemed okay, but I am sitting at the Tampa Airport wishing I didn't order the tuna. Stomach is quite upset, and I have an iron stomach. Not sure what gives, but I would not return. The view is awesome from the 2nd floor deck, outside. Loved the view - I would return for a beer on the deck. Service was good - prompt, attentive and the check came promptly. Decor - okay, nothing to get excited about. Get excited about the view. Food - I have had better Presentation - okay, it's just a bar / grill. Ordinary Knock down was for the food, tuna wrap. I did order it rare and that might have been the mistake.

We decided on this place vice the Hurricane, but what a bad choice we made. Food was mediocre, service was pretty good though. However, after my wife and I came home that evening we were both sick to our stomach, we will never go there again. probably send over the news channel crew from "Dirty Dinning" folks as the I am sure the we have food poisoning from it. Stay away, try another place in Pass a Grille, as this is probably the worst place.

I'm from Baltimore so I was delighted to find not only a crab pretzel in Florida, but a Ravens Roost to boot. While my original experience was pretty good, the second time I went to the Brass Monkey (which is not exactly on the beaten path), we sat at a table completely ignored for 40 minutes. We asked several servers who walked by if we could get water, but no one and nothing ever came. How disappointing!! But, nothing really tops paying $80 to watch the Superbowl and being served lukewarm Tyson's Any'tizers during the tailgate party (so gross, where are the old bay wings hons!?!), and then actually missing the kick-off and the first touchdown before leaving because the tv wasn't working. I convinced several friends to join me, and now everyone is mad at me because we all missed the entire first half of the biggest game of the decade!!! After several attempts to call and reach out via Facebook, no one has even made an attempt to get back to us with an apology or explanation. It's not likely we will see any money returned. When I found this place I thought: great, I don't have to go home to get a decent crabcake. But now I think: great, I don't have to go home to be treated like an a**hole at a bar. I won't be giving the Brass Monkey a third opportunity to take my money and not deliver, or worse yet, totally ignore me for the better part of an hour.

Dropped by on a whim and we were pleasantly surprised. Super nice and helpful staff. Brad was our server and helped make our visit a fun one. I ordered the grouper reuben and my friend ordered the chicken quesadilla. Both were delicious. It's always fun when you are placing your order and the server gets excited! The reuben was the best. I recently dined at Tommy Bahama's and ordered the same thing. There was no comparison, Brass Monkey's was far superior in taste. I great find in a beautiful location across from the beach.

I give it two stars cause it has a nice view. The service was bad. Food took way to long to come out and it was empty. Not recommended ..

Before you go here, city slicker (I am one also), you need to slow down and let the ebb and tide of the gulf pick you up and carry you away. So what if the service is slow sometimes. you are across the street from the ocean overlooking the beach from a 2nd story patio. Start with an appetizer, a beer or glass of wine. The shrimp was a meal in and of itself. I ordered grouper as much as I can, on the coast of the southern US from SC to the Gulf. It is real nice to visit before the sunset, walk the beach and have dinner afterwards with a warm breeze blowing through your hair. If you are staying in St Pete's or Tampa this is a short ride to another world. I put above average because I do not need many extras with this beautiful environment and they met my expectations.

  • Amber E.

It's within walking distance of my parents place, and with decent drinks, its a keeper in my book. The patio offers a nice view of the gulf, food is decent (i'm not a fan of wings, but everyone who has had them there say good things), prices reasonable. There aren't many options in the tiny area of pass a grille, but this is probably one of the best (service beats Hurricanes). And if you ever care to learn what "brass monkey" actually is, it's on the menu. I'll leave that nugget of information for you to find out yourself!

AWFUL! One of the worst dining experiences of our lives. We tried to go to the Hurricane, but they were too busy. So we walked to this place and it seemed a little busy - but we had no idea how backed up they were. The waitress who served us was new (and very nice and seemed more professional than anyone else working there). We ordered the mussels as our appetizers. It took 50 minutes for that order to come out! However, the mussels were quite good. The order came with 1 roll sliced in half. We requested more bread and were told that they do not give additional bread!! Now this was after waiting an hour for the appetizer! Ron asked to speak to the owner and was about to blow up. The owner sensed this was going to happen and brought us more bread. He also blamed the waitress for not understanding the policies. Then the entrees came out. My $19 "broiled snapper" was a reheated slab of white fish WITH NO SEASONING! It was nursing home food. I added salt and ate it because I was just so hungry. But it was a big disappointment. Ron's crab cakes were ok - served with no sauce/remoulade. At the next table, they called the owner over to complain about waiting and he again blamed the waitress. Then the check came, and we were overcharged - sent the bill back to be corrected. DO NOT EAT HERE! They are terribly disorganized, and the food is way overpriced and mediocre at best. We should have waited on line at the Hurricane instead.

Pros: 1. The servers and hostess are always friendly and super helpful. 2. The food is good and reminds me of living in Baltimore. 3. The view is amazing. Cons: 1. You can get there right at opening on a Sunday and still not get a decent table. The owners reserve table for their friends who roll in 5 minutes before the game starts. As somebody who has been there buying drinks and food I find that insulting. 2. The owners are not friendly to other team's football fans. I am a huge Baltimore Ravens fan but I am first a fan of football and respect all football fans even if I don't like their team. 3. Last time I was there one owner yelled at the entire section I was sitting in blaming us for the Ravens loss (WTF??) and his wife was falling down drunk at a table full of her friends. I am sad to give Brass Monkey a bad review because I really like the location, staff and food but find it hard to support owners that act like they are doing us a favor by letting us frequent their bar...

  • Laura M.

I stopped in here to view the sunset from their patio, and enjoy a meal on vacation. I was with a group and we ordered the monkey balls (small crab cakes) wings & fries for appetizers and for my meal and for my entrée, I ordered the Assawoman sandwich. It was a chicken breast, cooked perfectly and topped with crab dip served with chips. Everything I tried was delicious, and if I am in the St. Pete's area again on vacation, I will return to the Brass Monkey.

We have been here three times and is our favorite at this end of the beach. Crab cakes and shrimp are excellent. Big and strong gin and tonic with fresh tonic. Great waitstaff. Noisy when a game is on if you are inside. Really noisy. Eat on the deck. Easier to get hit by lightning or rained on but what the heck. Don't miss. Remember the song "piano man"? John at the bar is a friend of mine. He gets me my drinks for free? He is a waiter here and(song is over) and should be the manager. Great PR guy for the place. Try it.

    (5)
  • Chris M.

Caribbean Wrap is really excellent. Not too dense, which I worried, the Caribbean sauce adds a nice spice. The beer is old people beer - no craft just pee. #1 thing they can improve. Didn't experience slow or bad service. Kind and prompt. Most importantly children get hats they can color on with crayons. Adults do not automatically receive these hats. Request these hats.

  • Drew W.

If you're in the area and like crab, eat here. Large chunky crab portions. I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp. It was served in a medium scampi boat. Three hugemungous shrimp with a ton of crab on top (and some cheese I think) NOT stuffed shrimp. More like smothered. Good value. Wait staff is hit and miss. Sometimes great. Sometimes clueless. Also, the dishes are not always consistent between visits.

  • Tha B.

We stopped here for a drink and to get out of the heat. It's decorated it Ravens sports memorabilia. I'm not a sports fan so whatever. They had good music playing so we stayed for three drinks. The bartender was wasn't very welcoming at first but he got better the longer we stayed. We got an order of grouper nuggets, the batter was seasoned perfectly, I didn't need any tartar sauce at all.

  • Matt M.

Stopped in for the sunset and dessert. Key lime pie was $7 per piece - we ordered 4. We should have asked first, our mistake. Very small pieces and served warm. Very disappointing. Go to Publix, get 4 frozen pies for the same price!

I've been here on a number of occasions and never had a bad experience here. Love the amazing views of the Gulf of Mexico and it's a great place to come for food and drinks to get a break from the hot sun when your on the beach. I'm a die hard Steelers Fan and was hesitant even walking into a Ravens restaurant/bar but I can over look it due to the amazing food and drinks they have. I'm originally from Virginia and it's hard to find a place that serves their crab cakes without breading and they have old bay spices which Florida seafood restaurants don't normally have. I love that they t serve crab dip on pretty much everything. I enjoyed the crab cake and grouper Reuben they were so delicious! Some other favorites were the assawoman sandwich, grilled tuna steak, and the pretzel with crab dip on it! YummO! Also the orange crush drinks are amazing and a Maryland staple! The service has always been great and staff is always nice and accommodating.

    (5)
  • Ren A.

The service good. Food good. Very loud!!! Not my type of place. Lots of people crammed in small spaces. Music inside blaring. We sat on upstairs patio and noise was not as bad as inside but bug kept flying into our drinks (I know not their fault). Try and judge for yourself. Crab/cheese covered pretzel is good.

  • Susan D.

Had a great burger here watching the amazing sunset such a beautiful atmosphere, peaceful and amazing sunset. After a great tasting burger took a nice walk on this quiet beach. Very peaceful. Would love to live at this little hidden gem! Not a very touristy place.. Absolutely love it here one day we will live here. This place is great for your Soul!!

  • Michael S.

As we are Steelers and Browns fans, we are troubled by the Ravens motif, but the crab chowder is worth it. Lots of American dishes and solid seafood choices. The views from the patio are pretty cool but they are across the street from the beach.

    (4)
  • Christina G.

The view is one of the best parts of coming to the brass monkey. What's even better is you get the beauty of the beach without looking at cars lining the beach, because the whole restaurant is on the second floor. The crab cakes ANY is delicious. The crab cake Reuben is my personal favorite, and is it filling! There's way more crab than cake, I'm questioning if there is any cake in the crab cake to be honest. Our waitress was pleasant, attentive, and quick to refill our drinks. My friend ordered the grouper Reuben, he seemed to like it. (We both finished our mountain of a sandwich) I would recommend mainly because it didn't try to feed you the same boring fish cooked the same way as everywhere else on the beach. Im rarely impressed by the restaurants on the beach but go out of my way to come here once a month.

  • Kelley C.

I stopped in this place one afternoon when my daughter was hungry. It's on the second story on a corner offering a great view. We had a great view of the beach and sat under the shade of an umbrella. The drink menu was more than adequate, I had a apple martini that was fantastic. The ahi tuna was fresh and not too fishy like I've experienced quite often on the gulf shore. I'd definitely go again!

  • Bridget C.

We had the friendliest wait staff! Baltimore Ravens bar for anyone wanting to cheer on the Ravens while in Florida! We ordered the crab cakes, BBQ shrimp & grouper nuggets. The crab cakes were really good. They were "Maryland" style our waiter told us. Either way it was all crab meat without anything else in them The grouper bites were delicous as well. The best part was the BBQ shrimp. Jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon with BBQ sauce then topped w/ cheese. They were unbelievable! Great food & Great wait staff! Loved it & will go back again!

I ate lunch here for the first time this weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Our waiter, John was very attentive and friendly. He recommended the Fish Dip which was amazing! The dish comes with half a sleeve of crackers, capers, onions and jalapenos...sooo good. The drinks are fruity island style as expected..Good service good food and good atmosphere! Will def return to the Brass Monkey

I've been here a handful of times and it's been pretty consistent with service. I like to sit on their patio outside. It's never too busy and they usually have outdoor seating available. There are beautiful views of the beach. This place has one of the best chicken salads I have ever had! Heavy on the chicken and lighter on the salad. It was the house salad with jerk chicken. Three giant juicy tenderloins atop a bed of lettuce and tortilla strips. I also had a specialty drink with rum and a floater. Too sugary for me but I don't typically like tropical cocktails. I was in a "when in Rome" mood. A great place to stop for lunch at pass a grille beach!

  • Annie J.

We stopped in for a quick beer and watch the sunset. Great view, by the way! Beer selection was average, but well priced (thumbs up). We didn't order food... Just beer.. Oh, I said that already! There's lots of reviews about the poor service. There must have been a turn over because our server was attentive. But, again, it was just beer!

Been here for a few lunches. Ok, this time, walked upstairs, stair rails filthy and sticky. Table sticky. Waitress stone face the whole time. Service OK.food OK. Processed, canned, fried food. Drinks a bit pricey and not that great. Sorry. Place needs a good scrubbing and the wait staff needs a new attitude. Food and drinks fresher. Probably will not be going there again.

  • Laura W.

Stay away! Nothing prepared fresh, all frozen proteins -- fish, crab meat, even the Pizza! No happy hour specials, lousy service. Embarrassed to say they tout their seafood and Chesapeake Bay Maryland roots. They did take the tuna off the bill, we fed the pizza to the gulls

This place was delightful. Great crab cakes, and great drinks. You can't beat the view with a stick! Highly recommended.

The location is in a cute little place. The monkey balls (crab cakes) were not good. My son got the confetti wings & liked them. They were hot. Also got the bacon & cheese fries. These were good. Probably would not go back. They're supposed to be known for their seafood. I can only comment on the crab cakes.

We enjoyed our visit to the Brass Monkey. We had really good service and delicious food. We did have to wait more than expected for our food but we all agreed it was worth it. Lump crab cake, fried grouper sandwich, turkey Reuben (the grouper Reuben looked amazing), and one of the best smoked fish dips I've ever had (and I order it wherever it's on the menu). We were hot from a day at the beach so opted to sit inside in the AC instead of eating outside on the lovely patio deck overlooking the beach. All in all, a great experience.

Small Maryland themed sports bar with a great view, average food, & minimal selection of draft beer. Prices on the high side. Convenient Pass a Grille beach location. 4th star is for Gulf front view. Great place for Ravens & Orioles fans to get together. Other food I've had here is fine and the owners & staff are pleasant. Baltimore Ravens & other sports memorabilia adorns the walls. After living in Florida for six years and really missing the Ravens fan comradery, it was wonderful to have fellow fans to cheer with during the game.

Just finished dinner at this place across the street from the hotel that we are staying at. I can honestly say that this place is horrible. My husband and I both ordered pizza from the menu. It looked and tasted like a generic pizza that you get at the store. The drinks were watered down and had no taste. Our bill came to $52 not including tip. I would give this place no stars but that was not an option. Next time I will go to GiGi"s. If you are going to have a beach restaurant at least put out a good pizza if it is on your menu. I will never go back and will not recommend this place to anyone.

For the choices in the area, this is the best. The grouper ruben is great. Fresh grouper with slaw ( not kraut) and the usual Ruben fixins was a nice combo. Crab jalapeño dip was also perfect.

Why 3 stars? Because of stubbornness. --- --- --- It's always frustrating when a restaurant has good food, but they just absolutely refuse to acknowledge that they have a problem with their service. Brass Monkey's kitchen is far better than their 2.5 overall star rating, but if you look through the reviews, there are about 20-25 mentions of bad service. I wish I could understand how management continues to allow this to happen. I hope they turn things around, but the key is to read feedback from the general public: please re-train your servers or find a better crew! Our server would disappear in the back for 20+ minutes at a time. I believe she only had one more table, as the restaurant was definitely not busy. At one point when she came out from the back, we could see the imprint of a chair on the back of her legs. Yes... she had been sitting so long, the chair was molding her skin. Numerous times we would ask for something like an extra sauce, a refill, or even for the TV to be changed from an infomercial to the Rays game. Almost every time, we waited an inordinate amount of time. I really hate slamming a place due to one bad experience with service, but as I mentioned, it seems to be a fairly normal experience based on the reviews from others. It's very odd... almost like management doesn't even care. As for the food - the garlic parmesan wings were awesome! The old bay wings were solid, and I would definitely give them another try if I knew that our voices were being heard about the service.

Growing up here, I've seen more businesses flip in this area than I can count. The Monkey has managed to hang strong for some time now so they must be doing something right. (The killer location helps, but you still gotta pay the high rent/taxes) Whenever we're back in town, we drop in for a bite and drinks. We've always had friendly service and I don't think the prices are unfair. The food is actually pretty good for a bar/beach joint and the 4 stars are relative to that category.

I'd actually give them a 3 1/2 if I could. This was one of the first places I ever visited in Pass a Grill/St Pete Beach and I do still always need a crab pretzel and Brass Monkey. Cocktails are strong, staff is delightful, and the wings are finger-lickin' yummy.

The crab articoke dip was so awesome. And the view was amazing. great place for comfort food.

Stopped in for a beer and an app after the beach today. Service was miserable and took 15 minutes to receive our drinks. After placing and order of mozzarella sticks and onion rings we still didn't have our order after 45 minutes. The view is the only good thing about this place. When I approached the manager Allie about my concern she became offended and boisterous. I live in near Pass A Grille and have many visitors throughout the year, I will make it a point to have them steer clear of this establishment. Also, the bathrooms didn't have paper towels.

We went a second time on a Sunday afternoon. The Ravens lost the football game and apparently the cook wasn't happy. We had two orders of baked stuffed shrimp the shrimp was overcooked and the stuffing was undercooked and watery. Pretty gross. The portions are so small for the very large price tag. It was $120 for 3 meals. Way overpriced.

The service sucked. The bartender was just not in the mood to be bothered. He was like that the first time I went there. At first I gave him a pass but two times in a row being rude and completely unfriendly...no sir. How do you even make tips? The Grouper bites were really good though. I don't even really care for seafood but these were pretty delicious and I liked the sauce with them. My friends liked their grouper sandwich, said it was good. So nothing spectacular about this place. They are probably still in business because they are one of very few choices to dine on Pass-A-Grille.

Although the crab dip and grouper sandwich was quite delicious, nothing was as off putting as the service provided by the staff. It took well over an hour to be served our food. Other tables nearby had rotated two or three times before we saw our entrees. Afterwards the waiter offers to comp our drinks only to have lied about it since he didn't have the authority to offer that. Manager wasn't much help either, never comped our drinks even though waiter lied and said he would. Sorry, but some places just don't deserve a second chance.

This is my first review ever! Easter Sunday and we spent it at Pass-A-Grille. Decided to eat at the Brass Monkey and we couldn't have been more pleased! First our server Caitlin was a breath of fresh air. Friendly and on top of things for sure. The food was really great. I'm always hesitant to order crab cakes because of all the fillers but these were all crab and delicious. Makes sense because the owners are from Baltimore where crab is king. I had the blackened grouper Reuben and it was so tasty. True grouper too! One son had this huge piece of blackened tuna and the other had the strip steak sandwich. Perfection and they gobbled it up. Give it a try. Ask for Caitlin!

pub/bar type of spot by the beach. the wings and loaded fries are delicious! i recommend going to watch the sunset: perfect view. also great for watching any games going on. staff is a little slow because there is only two of them and a lot of tables. icecream parlor right downstairs, perfect for after.

The ambiance makes this place what it is. The crab cakes and crab pretzel were really good but everything else was just ok. Food was a bit pricey for what you get. Having said that, getting to watch that sunset made it all worth while.

went here with a large group recently, service was quick and friendly, food was very good, especially the crab cakes and grouper. Also highly recommend the wings with their house dry rub. Outside seating overlooks the beach and was a great place to watch the sun set. Add another star if you are from Maryland.

Owners from maryland. Thought the crab would be better than it was; grouper Reuben cooked well. All in all, not bad. It IS pricy!!

The location is great, overlooking the beach. And the most out of the way Baltimore bar (Ravens & O's) you could imagine. The food was just OK. I had the much hyped crab cakes and the flavor was ordinary. Best part of my meal was the Funky Monkey drink (think banana smoothie with booze). I probably would go back if I'm the area but just to have a drink and enjoy the view.

Ordered seafood sampler and grouper sandwich. Average faire. Big black hair in romulade sauce. Grouper was over lemoned which was masking a bit of fishy smell. Slaw was good. Fries were good. Crab cakes a bit gamey. Service good after waiting 15 minutes for a server. Other patrons Smoking on patio did not go well with dinner.

Service was not very good. No refills were offered on drinks and no check back after food was served. Of the several dishes ordered only the hamburger could be recommended. Muscles were o.k. but 4 didn't open of the 12 served. Crab cakes (called monkey balls) were not worth the price. Patio was nice but inside was warm. Not a terrible experience but I would only go back for a hamburger.

The food here is pretty good. My whole family loved the crab cakes. I had the wings in their house seasoning, which was ok, and had their buffalo chicken sandwich, which was pretty good. The prices though are a little obnoxious. They're a bar but have very few items to eat under $10. The menu is also quite overwhelming - if this place was on "restaurant impossible", that'd be the first thing Chef Irvine would say - cut down that menu! Overall I'd come back - and we did!

Beachfront sports bar (owner is from Baltimore) with a Key West feel. You will pay a little extra for the beachfront location. Atmosphere 75 Add 10 points if your sports team comes from Baltimore Service 75 Average Food 80 Surprisingly good Value 80 Beach. Cold Beer. Fresh fish. Forget the mo tiff. The setting and food couldn't be better, but it is a sports bar. Worth a try if you are in the area.

Pleasantly surprised! food was totally fine, we read the reviews which were mixed, but got the crabcakes based on recommendations, very good! Jerk chicken wrap was way better than expected, typical bar but good was really good and service was even better!

The worst service I have ever experienced including blatant lying. The 1st thing to go wrong is 30 minutes later after we placed our order for an appetizer we have still not received it. Our server Andrew comes by to ask if another server has brought it. As we are sitting there we notice all the tables that were seated after us have already received their food. It's going on an hour and we ask where our food is and the server says he doesn't know and denies forgetting to put in our order. Finally after over an hour our food is brought to us and we ask to speak to the manager. At that point our server mentions he is new and it's all his fault that our food is late because something about index cards in his pocket. We eat our meal and still no manager. At this point our server offers to comp our drinks we say okay but that we would still like to speak to the manager. Soon our server returns and states that he took off our 1st round, well that's interesting being that we only had 1 round and the previous round of drinks were drinks that we already paid at the bar. So he takes our bill again and then comes out and says the order can't be modified after it's been put in. What a load of crap. I know no restaurant that can't change an order. Mistakes happen and of course orders can be modified. It's obvious to me that he just doesn't want to notify the manager of his mistakes. He then brings out the bartender who he says is the manager which I highly doubt. At this point the bartender blames our late food arrival on the kitchen which is ridiculous since all the other tables on the patio had already been served, got their check and left. Not to mention the server had finally admitted that he forgot our order. At this point the "manager/bartender" says all he can do is a 10% discount which also makes me think he isn't the manager and is just using his employee discount. It's one thing to mess up and be new but be honest about it. This was the worst most disrespectful dining experience I have ever had. Save the hassle and go to The Hurricane.

Where do I start. The food was fair but I was shocked by the belligerent drunk woman walking around harassing some guy because he wasn't a Ravens fan. Come to find out it was the owner! This lady was rude to some poor guy because she didn't like his team AND there were raven fans at the table with him. So, high prices, fair food, overworked staff and horrific drunk owner... FoodieClan Ninja will not back, ever.

If you're in Pass-A-Grille this is a great place to stop in and grab a bite or drink. Inside is a bar setting, outside on the balcony is awesome. There's not many restaurants with views of the ocean like this in the area. The menu is typical and the drinks are strong (no complaints there). Service staff is super friendly. Be sure to try the Monkey Balls!!!! They are amazing. Overall I would give this place a 3.5.

Bad grouper sandwich, blech! Server didn't really care either. I have been here 5 - 6 times and each time the food gets worse. Great view, good Mixed drinks, yucky food. Leaving with a stomach ache!

Terrible service. The waiter seated us and after 10 min or so we were asked to move seats so the owners friend could sit. When we complained we were told we were rude. Never will I visit this place again.

Let me start off by saying the view is beautiful!!! Other than that I would suggest bringing your lunch in a cooler to the beach! Place is dirty, needs a major remodel. I sat outside and the table I was at had such a disgusting salt shaker I didn't even want to touch it!! I am not a fan if leaving condiments out in the heat, especially the heat of Florida for peoples consumption. The meals are pricey for what you get. I ordered a bacon barbecue burger which was nice and juicy, but I hate restaurants that give you chips and not fries, especially for 9.25! I asked if I could get fries instead, thought it might be a couple bucks extra! No substitutions and a basket is 6 bucks!!! It's a lazy and unappealing way to serve someone chips in a bag! I won't go back! Service was mediocre, didn't get asked if I wanted another coke until meal was over!!!

I debated between giving 3 and 4 stars. Pros: you can sit on the patio which gives you a great view of the beach, the wings were delicious and our server was super nice and helpful accommodating my allergies. The Cons: It's a bit over priced for what you get. I ordered a tuna steak and it was way overcooked - to the point that I took two bites and then doggie-bagged it for my pups! I'm not saying I'd never go back, but I'd probably try another place first!

We had the grouper reuben, potato skins and couple of kids meals. The food was good and the view is nice. The prices are high for what you get and its definitely a touristy place. Service was adequate and courteous. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, as nothing was exceptional, but it's a decent place with a nice view of Pass-a-Grille Beach.

Too bad the service ruins the food. As a local i am finally giving up on this place. Management never acknowledges service issues. Last night ordered loaded fries with my meal. My meal came out but the not fries. I had to remind he server who first acted like I never ordered them then came back 5 mins later and stated the kitchen burned them and were re-making. After waiting we finally told the waiter to cancel the fries. She never even apologized.... This is consistent at the restaurant. They never apologize for mistakes and the owners never come over and apologize either.

Great, friendly service. The host/server made us feel like old friends. Located in Passe-A-Grille, a little piece of Key West in Tampa Bay, feels like a laid back, genuine beach village. The second floor location has an outstanding view of the Gulf and perfect for watching the sun set in the water. The blacked grouper sandwich was perfectly cooked. the interior could use an update, but otherwise a great nice eatery!

I had the grouper reuben and it was probably one of the best sandwiches I have had in a long time. Service was typical for a beach bar - strange thing is that they don't have beer on tap.

Just walked out of this place. Stopped in for drinks after sunset and the owner and his two young sons were sitting at the bar watching a game. I was told there was no bar seating. Stay tuned for this place on some kind of Restaurant Impossible show.

The Brass Monkey was located a short walk from my hotel in Pass a Grille, FL. It's on the second floor across the street from the beach, the view is as nice as anywhere in the area and the food was pretty solid. The service was a bit slow and the menu is a little overwhelming but our orders came out just as we asked and the sandwiches we picked were basic but just what we wanted to soak up the Coronas we ordered with lunch

  • Patricia C.

Saving grace was a terrific view and good server. Food was "meh" at best. I'd only go back for sunset cocktails.

    (2)
  • Jason N.

The good, great view of the sunset. That's where it ends. Food wasn't fresh, ordered their "specialty" Tuna ahi. Tasted way too fishy and rubbery in texture. The worst thing is the prices here are what you'd expect to pay at a fine dining restaurant. Way overpriced for stock middle of the road seafood.
